Micro-Enterprise Opportunities
Listening Ear supports micro-enterprise opportunities forthose we serve.
Listening Ear’s Community Based Residential Care offers individuals aged 18 and older with developmental disabilities the chance to enhance their independence. Participants receive support and training in either a group home setting or a semi-independent living arrangement, based on their personalized plan.
To further assist consumers in achieving their health, employment, social, and other aspirations, Listening Ear has created a new Consumers Needs and Dreams endowment fund.
Individuals seeking services must be referred by Community Mental Health and can reside in Antrim, Clare, Ionia, Isabella, or Kalkaska Counties. Our services are available 24/7, and there are no fees unless determined by the referring agency.
Listening Ear is a strong advocate for micro-enterprise opportunities for the individuals we serve. We actively encourage the involvement of staff, family, and the community to ensure the success of each venture and to uphold high standards of quality products. Current micro-enterprise projects include, but are not limited to: sales of greeting cards, soaps, jewelry, plants, and birdhouses, as well as services like lawn care, office cleaning, and paper shredding.

Providing In-Home Assistance Listening Ear’s In-Home Help program empowers adults and children with disabilities to live as independently as they desire. Individuals can choose to live in their own homes or with family members in Antrim, Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kalkaska, Mecosta, and Osceola Counties.
The In-Home Help staff act as role models, mentors, and trainers, ensuring a safe and clean-living environment while fostering independence and community engagement. They assist individuals based on their personalized plans with tasks such as budgeting, shopping, meal preparation, community activities, and more.
Participants must be referred by Community Mental Health and can reside in Antrim, Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kalkaska, Mecosta, or Osceola Counties. Services are available 24/7, with no fees except those determined by the referring agency.
Listening Ear has also created a new Consumers Needs and Dreams endowment fund to support consumers who need additional assistance in achieving their health, employment, social, and other aspirations.

Listening Ear Activities (LEA) empowers people with disabilities to connect with their community, boost their independence, and have a great time! If you’re looking to build relationships and participate in engaging group activities with people who share your interests, LEA is for you.
How LEA Works
We believe your voice matters. Every LEA participant is encouraged to share their preferences for activities, destinations, and any other important details. Our dedicated LEA staff provides convenient door-to-door transportation, picking you up from your home or workplace and ensuring a safe return after each event.
Building Skills and Having Fun
LEA offers unique opportunities to learn valuable skills and build your capabilities through interacting with local businesses and people. Participants can work with staff on budgeting money and using it to make purchases at gift shops, ice cream parlors, and other vendors. It’s a chance to grow, explore, and enjoy new experiences!

Weekend Rec offers fun and engaging recreational activities open to the entire community. Activities are supported by grant funds and are free for participants. The focus of the program is to have fun! We believe that fostering a playful and inclusive environment is key to building stronger community bonds and promoting well-being for everyone involved. Whether you’re looking to try a new sport, learn a creative skill, or simply connect with your neighbors, our diverse range of offerings has something for all ages and interests.
